I bought my first telescope about 20 years ago. It was the Celestron NextStar 6Se , called a Schidmt-Cassegrain. It has a 1500mm focal length, and f9 optics. This clever design is achieved by the use of a lens at the front and a mirror at the back , as the beam of light is folded back on itself it makes for a much more compact design. When I first saw Saturn through this telescope I was overwhelmed by its crystal clear image , and have been fascinated by Saturn ever since. I also like looking at Jupiter's moons . My next favourite is Mars, with a red hue it looks mysterious. The moon looks especially good in this scope. Also, Orion is well worth studying as its easy to find and has that wonderful gas cloud around it , and the running man is worth a look. Andromeda is interesting to see. Plus many other things. I chose astronomy as a hobby as I thought I would never run out of new things to see.

I am also a member of Chester U3A, and belong to several groups including Aviation, Birdwatching, Pickleball, and a Ukulele group

So life is quite busy at the moment.

I would like to join the Committee of the Astronomical Society, and I would lobby for more practical astronomy talks, rather than just academic lectures. I am really interested in hands on astronomy, and I would like to do a presentation on the Celestron NextStar 6se, if I am allowed. Thanks for reading this far!
